Archaeological area of Dorgali

Ahead, At approximately twenty minutes from Orosei by car, Dorgali territory, is the nuragic village of Serra Orrios, one of the biggest and well preserved in Sardinia.
This area is made up of around seventy huts, some of them consisting of a unique round space and some more complex , consisting of various spaces, linked between them and served by wells.
inside the village, there are also two sacred sites, composed of two small “megaron” temples, enclosed in sacred fences (temenos), one round and the other one rectangular.
Thanks to the several findings recovered during the excavations, we can date back this complex to the period from the Medium Bronze to the Recent Bronze age.Proceeding through the same road, at few kilometers from the Serra Orrios site, we can see the Tombs Of Giants , called S’Ena’ e Thomes, one of the most well preserved and ancient in Sardinia, dated back to the 1800-1600 a. C.
The Tombs Of Giants are sepulchral monuments typical of the nuragic era and their name refers to the fact.
